About Us
We're a dedicated team of bicycle enthusiasts!
“Whoever invented the bicycle deserves the thanks of humanity.” — Lord Charles Beresford
Based in Tweedbank in the Scottish Borders, our dedicated team of skilled volunteers generously dedicate their time and labour to restoring, repairing, recycling, servicing, collecting bicycles and supporting the charity. We cannot thank them enough for supporting us with their greatest assets – their time.
Our values
Our values underpin the work of Just Cycle and they help us to ensure we provide the best possible outcome for all who engage with us.
RESPECT
We accept people for who they are, regardless of difference, providing a safe, inclusive person-centred and trauma informed environment. We help, encourage and care for those we engage with, self-care, safety & wellbeing and care for others is paramount to us.
EDUCATION
Education is the key to improving society and building better, sustainable futures for us all.
We offer two bicycle maintenance workshops followed by online tests. We attend local schools in the area, using fun activities to raise awareness #Reduce, #Reuse #Recycle
INSPIRE
Our project aims to inspire and motivate, awakening people to new ideas, new possibilities and to new opportunities. We encourage the reuse of recycled bicycle parts and inner tubes for creative, innovative projects.
ENVIRONMENTAL
At Just Cycle we're committed to helping people to live more sustainably by making it easier to reuse and recycle bikes, diverting them from landfill. Our Bicycle recycling project encourages active travel, for work, pleasure & exercise, improving mental and physical health and wellbeing.
Leading the Way
Just Cycle is proud to be a Trauma Informed organisation. There are many enormous benefits to being Trauma Informed, providing a safe, healthy and harmonious person-centred working environment for our staff and volunteers being just one of them.
