“Skills are freedom, Get skilled up!”

There is something very special about watching skills developing at Just Cycle. Students and potential volunteers come into the workshop a little apprehensive and leave us just a few hours later, not just with newly developed skills, but with a spring in their step and a whole new level of confidence. There is something magical about the way our mechanics take something old and broken and breathe new life into it. We are very proud of our achievements at Just Cycle, especially the skills and knowledge passed on that allows sustainable projects like ours to continue well beyond us for a better tomorrow.

Unlike a regular bicycle repair shop, more often than not our mechanics are working blind. They have no idea what issues there are with a donated bicycle, it is part of their job to find the issues and fix them and they do!

Part of our service at Just Cycle is to offer skills development, for adults (16+) who want to train either as volunteers or customers learning to fix their own bicycles, individual students or small groups of students – as our current premises only allow for a maximum of 4 students per workshop.

We offer two practical sustainable repair workshops at Just Cycle; A Basic Half-Day Bicycle Maintenance Workshop for Beginners + Online Test.

An Advanced 3-Day Bicycle Maintenance Workshop + Online Test. The online tests are hosted for us by one of our not-for-profit partners in the Borders, A Positive Start CIC. For costs and details of workshops – please contact us

Thinking of starting a recycling project? Grab a notebook and pen and come join us for a tour of our amazing project. We love sharing our knowledge and experiences.
